For those of us who live in the Midwest, Michigan is a great destination that’s driveable! Not only are the lakeviews amazing but it comes without the humidity some beach lake destinations come with in the south. I’ve been traveling to northern Michigan since I was three. I was lucky to have the experience because of my foster parents at a place called Watervale. The hubby and I were about to get away there this summer and we had such a relaxing time! We stayed with my foster parents. The hubby got in some golf while I did some shopping with my foster mom. We also took on the baldy hike another day. I love the stunning views climing it and always feel like a kid running down the huge sand dune. We took a cocktail boat ride and got pizza takeout the first night. Then we got in the golf cart and headed to sunset at the big beach! It was just stunning. We ate at my two favorite dinner spots the next two nights, the Glenwood and the Watervale Inn. One Michigan tradition is to go to Arcadia Bluffs and take in the bagpipes at sunset. We did that post Watervale Inn dinner. The last night I hosted a dinner party and it was just lovely to have some of my favorite lake people around the dinner table! Dessert was cherry hut pie, another Michigan tradition. I was so thankful for the beautiful weather we had on our trip! This particular area of Michigan captures God’s beautiful earth like no other! I am a city girl at heart but breaking away to enjoy the nature Michigan offers is so peaceful! When it came to packing for this trip, summer layers were key. I filled my suitcase with summer dresses, bathing suits and a few kiminos and summer sweaters. If you ever get the chance, head to northern Michigan and experience it for yourselves!
Thanks for stopping by!
