Hope everyone is having a good week! I’m excited to share my eBay french couch story with y’all! We all love that feeling of finding the perfect couch that not only looks good but serves the functionality we desire! When we moved into this condo, we turned our first floor living room into a formal visiting area which I was so happy about! I had two french industrial chairs so I was on the hunt for a unique couch that was timeless but created a fun statement. I knew I wanted a visiting area in a home one day so starting to collect for that was a no brainer! I wanted this particular couch to stand out a bit and still be a full sized piece. I searched a number of sites but I couldn’t find the color and size I wanted. I’m not sure what led me to peruse furniture on eBay but I’m so glad I did! I used to be pretty intimidated by eBay but like anything else that may intimidate you, diving right into is the best thing! While I was searching eBay, I came across this antique creamy white french couch that was a few states away. All I could envision was this couch reupholstered in a modern fabric sitting in my living area. The price was too good not to pass up! The steps of getting it shipped here were a bit challenging but with the help of my husband and my in-laws, I got it done! Next came choosing the color to reupholster the couch and as much as I thought I wanted a white couch, I loved doing the unexpected choosing a black linen fabric. It completely modernized the couch! And mixed in with the two french chairs I had reupholstered in white at the same time, I was just thrilled with how the project turned out! Sticking to a neutral color for this couch allows me to play around with decor accent colors. Although I’ve recently changed out the pillows in the images above, you can see how good a mix of colors work with this couch. I’ve since switched to a more neutral set of pillows in linen for the winter with a faux fur throw and loving it just as much!
Now on to a few tips in finding your own couch!
1) Peruse through decor magazines and pinterest to hone in on a particular style you like. You’d be surprised how your mind might change after some research.
2) Decide on your budget.
3) Narrow down your options to about three and watch for the sales! There are way too many sales going on these days to pay full price for a piece of furniture.
4) Have fun styling it and don’t feel the need to rush getting throw pillows right away. Let your mind wander over different colors and patterns.
Couch shopping should be fun! There are a number of shapes and colors to suit any style. I love having a couch that tells a story and is a bit unexpected. For those who love my French Industrial couch style, I’m linking some similiar options below!
